Children and youth presenting at the Worldwide Conference held in Jackson MS

Volunteer Clearance

Those volunteering to work with children and youth require a background check to ensure the safety of the young members of a community.

If you are interested in serving with children, junior youth, or high school aged youth – anyone under the age of 18, in order to ensure the safety of the youngest members of the community while they are under our supervision and care, everyone working with minors is required to have a background check and agree to abide by the policy and principles linked below.

How does the process work?

Click on the following link and fill in the required information: Volunteer Clearance Form

Within a few days, you will receive an email from “TheAdvocates@SterlingVolunteers.com” with an invitation from the Regional Training Institute to initiate your background check. The email will have a link for you to follow to set up a Sterling Volunteer’s account and initiate the check. The process is completely secure, using a password-protected account to preserve the confidentiality of personal information, and only takes about 5 minutes. The check itself can take 2 days – 2 weeks, depending on a range of factors.

When your check is completed, you will receive an email from Sterling Volunteers with the results of your check, and a confirmation email from the Clearance Officer.

If you have additional questions about the process, please contact: board@rtise.org.
